ATF Classic: Are Your Friends Making You Fat?
Mar 18th
Here’s a great subject up for debate – can being friends with people who are overweight increase your chances of packing on the pounds? I originally wrote this two years ago and since then I’ve made some observations – I think the opposite is more true! In other words, I believe it’s much more likely that an overweight individual will adopt better lifestyle habits by spending time with people who are thinner and more active then it is for the thinner, more active people to gain weight.
Plus I think that an overweight person will look to their friends for support and More >
ATF Classic: Top 10 Mat / Floor Exercises Video
Nov 4th
Today I’m sharing another Classic ATF post that is worth taking a look at again. Last September I posted this mat / floor routine to show all of you that a great workout can be found in many forms. In this case, I demonstrated how going through a circuit of ten exercises right in your living room can deliver big results – without ever standing up!
Since its release, this video has become one of my most watched routines with over 18,000 views on YouTube and many of you have written in to tell me how much you love it. In More >
Ask Alfonso: Which Frozen Meals Are Healthiest?
Aug 31st
Hey Alfonso!
School has just started this week and while I am happy to be exercising my mind again, I am concerned about getting proper nutrition. I am taking a full load, doing extra curricular activities and working a minimum of 24 hours a week (while working out five days a week).
My days are crazy and I find myself picking up frozen dinners out of convenience. I stay away from Hungry Man and Lean Cuisine and opt for Ethnic Gourmet, which seems to be made out of whole ingredients.
But my question has to do just with that. Is there such a More >
Angry Issues: What’s The WORST Diet You’ve Ever Tried?
Aug 25th
When it comes to reaching their health and fitness goals, many trainees never realize their potential because they just can’t seem to get their diet in check. And it seems like every other week there’s a new incredible weight loss regime to try, most of which just leave their users frustrated – and unfit!
So today I’m asking – What’s the WORST diet you’ve ever tried?
Honestly, with the exception of the Blood Type diet, I think I’ve tried them all. I’ve gone high and low carb, high and low protein, high fat and low fat, the fish and rice diet, the More >
Angry Issues: What’s The Best And Worst Tasting Fitness Food?
Jul 24th
I’ve been thinking lately about how so many people struggle with food. It’s really quite amazing when you think about it! Many of us have no issues working out for hours on end nearly every day of the week, but when it comes to food many people can’t regulate what and how much they eat. And often that’s because people equate healthy food with bad tasting food.
So for today’s Angry Issue I’m asking a very simple question… what’s the best and worst tasting fitness food out there?
The reason I ask is simple – I think more people would adhere to More >
Paula Deen – Weight Loss and Wising Up!
Jun 28th
Paula Deen is back in the headlines once again!
As you may recall a few months ago I wrote a post on the butter loving chef – a piece that elicited quite a big response here at Angry Trainer Fitness!
At the time Deen had finally come clean and admitted that she had Type 2 diabetes while also announcing that she was signing a million dollar deal to endorse a diabetes drug. Needless to say I was appalled that Paula stood to profit by pushing medicine – when it was her fat laden cooking that likely contributed to her condition in the More >
Fitness Fact Or Fiction: Are Detox Diets A Waste Of Time And Money?
Mar 17th
Hmm, I think it’s time for another Fiction Fact Or Fiction – and this one’s a question I get asked time and again here at Angry Trainer Fitness!
It seems like every other day some new celebrity detox or cleanse hits the news with the ‘star’ concerned claiming they’ve lost weight in no time and that the plan relieves stress, boosts energy and improves overall health.
But are detoxes worth your time and hard earned cash?
I’d have to say that if you asked me this question about 5 months ago, I’d say these plans had no merit. We all know that the More >
Fitness Fact Or Fiction: Will Eating After 8 PM Ruin My Diet?
Nov 17th
Are you ready for another Fitness Fact Or Fiction?
Okay here’s today’s question – should you stop eating after 8pm, as many diets advise, or will late night snacks ruin your waistline? Is this a fitness myth – or based on actual fact?
To be honest I think it depends on a range of factors, including what you’re eating and how much. Basically I believe it could go either way depending on your personal goals and whether you’re aiming for weight loss, maintenance or muscle gain. I know when I was building muscle I used to wake up at 3am to slam More >
