It’s now Monday morning and my return to the bodybuilding stage is quickly becoming a memory, although my skin is orange from being dyed to look tan and my calves are super sore from posing…!
Three months ago I set out to prove that I could compete in the bodybuilding world once again with only the use of resistance bands and my bodyweight, and I succeeded. This past Saturday I weighed in at 187 pounds looking lean and mean. In a field of 7, I placed 5th and took home my last ever bodybuilding trophy.
But now I’m done with the ‘sport’ that More >
Holy moly! It’s here –SHOWTIME!
As I write this post it’s Friday night around 7:35 pm and in less than 24 hours I’ll be on stage for pre-judging at a local bodybuilding show. If you’ve followed along you know I started off my training at a weight of about 213 pounds. Well guess what? This morning I weighed in at 185.5 pounds! I CANNOT believe it, I haven’t been this weight since I was 18 years old. Man this last 9 weeks has been quite a trip.

Wow – the time is flying by!
I’ll be on stage this August 18th, a little less than two weeks from now. This is what they call ‘crunch’ time and any room I had to wiggle in my diet or training is gone. I have to be 100% focused or I run the risk of not looking how I want.

Yep, that’s right. I’m counting the days, not weeks now, till I return to the bodybuilding stage again. This is the part of the contest prep that really starts to become a challenge – both physically and mentally. I know I’ve said it before, but I really can’t believe I’m doing this again after all these years…!
Today I thought I’d talk a bit about how my preparation is affecting me emotionally. I’ve said here before on the site that in the past I’ve developed an unhealthy relationship with food while preparing for previous shows. And let me tell you, it’s More >
Another week has passed and in just one month I’ll be on stage at a local bodybuilding show.
This week was tough for me as I really pushed myself hard and may have over-trained a bit. Plus I had a mighty big surprise – I GAINED weight! I had reached
a low of 199 pounds at the beginning of the week, which I hadn’t been since the age of 21. Just yesterday I weighed myself and I’m 205! Trust me when I say I’m perplexed.
It can’t be water weight because this week I cut way back on carbohydrates and my diet closely More >
