Ask Alfonso: I Need More Protein In My Diet!
May 23rd
Hi Alfonso,
I have a bit of a problem in that I feel as though I’m not getting nearly enough protein daily. I have an egg allergy, and while it isn’t anaphylactic, I don’t really enjoy the nasty reaction I get when eating eggs. I‘ve also recently found out I’m lactose intolerant.
I know you’re not a big fan of milk, but it was a decent source of protein for me! And of course, I can’t eat cheese. I can tolerate Greek yogurt. Anyway, I try and eat some tuna, fish, and other forms of meat/chicken, but it’s not always possible to More >
Ask Alfonso: Should I Use A Protein Shake To Lose Weight?
May 13th
I just discovered you through Facebook, and I’m already loving your posts/articles/thoughts, etc.
One of your recommendations is avoiding processed food. I too am a big believer in eating whole foods, but I can’t always consume all of my calories in a day – I just can’t seem to fit them all in LOL!
I’m having trouble with weight loss and the guys at the health supplement store seemed to think I wasn’t eating enough and recommended two protein shake snacks a day and one recovery shake after my workouts. This is man made processed food and seems to More >
Ask Alfonso: Protein Powered
Jan 21st
Hi Alfonso,
I’m 28, 5’10” and weigh 170 lbs.
I work my butt off in the gym 4-5 times a week and am in good shape but like everyone else out there – I’m always looking to bulk up more.
My question concerns protein powders. I eat a protein bar and down a protein shake each day religiously and also eat lean chicken, turkey and tuna. But I don’t know how much protein I should be taking in each day.
One friend tells me I should aim to consume 2 grams of protein for each pound of bodyweight, another says it’s one gram and More >
Ask Alfonso: Creatine Question
Jan 10th
Hey Alfonso,
I keep reading about creatine in virtually every magazine I read – but I really have no idea what it is – and what it does.
My friend swears by it and claims it’s essential for anyone looking to develop serious muscle. Do you agree? Have you ever used it? And which brands do you recommend?
Thanks
Tom, Orlando
ASK ALFONSO: GAS EXPLOSION
Nov 9th
Hi Alfonso,
I have a slightly delicate question for you!
I’ve been weight training for years and have made some good gains in the gym. I weigh 170lbs and try and consume around 3,000 calories a day with a 30-20-50 protein, fat, carbohydrate split.
That means I need to eat 225 grams of protein a day – which I largely achieve through eating chicken, fish, protein bars and shakes.
My problem – I have quite bad wind due to all the protein I’m consuming – and, not to be blunt, but it doesn’t smell great! There’s only so many times I can leave a More >
