Fitness Fact Or Fiction: Do You Really Need To Eat Every 2–3 Hours?
Apr 26th
Today’s Fitness Fact Or Fiction is a subject I’ve been wanting to discuss for a while now. You know the old theory right? It’s been a long established ‘rule’ that in order to speed up your metabolism and supply a steady stream of nutrients to fuel muscles, you need to eat every two to three hours.
But is this true?
Proponents of this way of eating will tell you that you must supply the body with amino acids in the form of protein every 3 hours – 4 at most – to keep your body in what’s called an anabolic state and More >
Testing The Trainers – Mari Winsor / Slimming Pilates
Aug 19th
The infomercial market shows no signs of slowing down, so it appears I’ll have a job for quite some time here at Angry Trainer Fitness. Today’s Testing The Trainers features Mari Winsor and her ‘incredible’ Slimming Pilates program.
I’ve seen the ads on TV for years and truthfully just shrugged them off – but does Mari’s program meet its promises? Here’s my take…
Testing The Trainers: The Brazil Butt Lift Program
Aug 4th
Here we go again with another Testing The Trainers, where I break down a popular exercise program and give you my take. In my opinion does the workout work, or is it worthless?
Beach Body, the company that brought us P90X, Insanity, and Turbo Jam is at it again. This program’s called the Brazil Butt Lift – but is it for you?
Muscle Food: Meal On Wheels
Apr 15th
For the last twenty years I’ve been a personal trainer. For much of that time I’ve traveled to client’s houses in nearby counties, sometimes arriving as early as 4:45 am. Needless to say, having to always cook and prepare meals the night before became monotonous and sometimes I was just too tired or simply didn’t feel like cooking. I’ve also eaten a fair amount of meals in my car traveling from one house to the next.
As I discussed in an earlier post (Is Eating Healthy Really Too Expensive), many healthy foods are now available cooked, seasoned and ready to go. More >
Muscle Food: Rainbow Protein Omelet
Mar 31st
Lately I’ve been trying to stay away from traditional go–to carbohydrate sources like brown rice, sweet potatoes and Ezekiel bread. My Angry Diet has evolved into a more Paleo or caveman type program, which includes a lot of vegetables, lean proteins and a few nuts here and there. This meal is simple; turkey, frozen mixed veggies of all colors (hence the rainbow name) and eggs.
I’ve found that after the first day or two of this eating regimen I feel terrific, my hunger subsides and I feel satisfied and energized all day. Plus, I drop body fat like crazy. So here’s More >
Muscle Food: Protein Nachos
Mar 16th
It’s been a while since I’ve shared one of my favorite recipes, so today I’m giving up my secret Protein Nacho recipe. I’ve written numerous times how much I enjoy stone ground tortilla chips, and who doesn’t like nachos? So, a light bulb went off and now I enjoy a healthier version of this famous finger food.
Testing The Trainers: Zuzana / Bodyrock TV
Feb 25th
Hey there everyone – it’s Testing the Trainers time again!
I recently received an email from Olga, a reader who wanted me to check out internet sensation Zuzana and her website www.bodyrock.tv.
Here’s what Olga wrote:
“It’s really refreshing to see a trainer who isn’t willing to subscribe to new and trendy fitness and nutrition trends. I’ve been following www.bodyrock.tv, and I was wondering what your opinion about the site was – do you think the fitness tips and exercises seem sound, as well as the nutrition advice? What do you think?”
What’s interesting is that my web designer Richard had already showed me Zuzana’s website More >
Testing The Trainers: Tony Horton / P90X
Feb 3rd
Have you ever been awake at 3am and seen adverts that promise you’ll “get fit in 3 easy payments”? I know I’ve seen my fair share, and it’s one of the aspects of the fitness industry that really irks me. But now it seems as though fitness infomercials aren’t just running during early morning hours, but on mainstream channels, during peak viewing hours.
One program you’re bound to have heard of is Tony Horton’s P90X, and man is this program everywhere. I can’t go a day without seeing an ad, getting spam to my inbox, or being asked by someone “Is More >
