Here’s a great subject up for debate – can being friends with people who are overweight increase your chances of packing on the pounds? I originally wrote this two years ago and since then I’ve made some observations – I think the opposite is more true! In other words, I believe it’s much more likely that an overweight individual will adopt better lifestyle habits by spending time with people who are thinner and more active then it is for the thinner, more active people to gain weight.

I was watching television today and caught a few minutes of the popular TMZ show. A picture of a black bikini clad Penelope Cruz was shown during one segment and the ‘reporter’ said something to the effect of ‘that’s not normal’. He was inferring that Cruz, who is believed to be in her 7th month of pregnancy, isn’t representative of most pregnant women who he believes usually are heavier. In fact he mentioned his wife!
