Hey everyone – it’s time for another Angry Trainer Top 10 (apologies for the delay – I’ve been fighting the flu over the last couple of days!)

Today I’m talking about gym injuries – with the most common exercise related injuries I’ve seen over the years – both from my clients and in the dozens of gyms I’ve worked at and worked out in!

The truth is if you work out regularly, chances are you will suffer an injury at some point. Like any machine your body will break down from use, it’s inevitable. The really amazing thing is that unlike many other mechanical devices, your body will normally heal itself with proper rest – and time. But of course the trick is NOT to get injured in the first place. Hopefully you’ll find a few tips here that will help you avoid some of the most common exercises related injuries…

It’s Top 10 time again, and although Halloween is barely a memory, I’m sure many of you still have candy lingering around the house that has provided daily temptations. Perhaps you’ve even gained a few pounds indulging in the sweet treats, but beware as the real holiday excess is just around the corner!

It’s estimated that Americans will consume an extra 8,000 calories in holiday meals from Thanksgiving, Chanukah, Christmas Day, and New Years Day. These upcoming 6 weeks of indulgence have a tendency to snowball and make even the strictest of dieters fall off the wagon. And with January just around the corner many of us have a tendency to throw in the towel and hold off until the New Year before getting our diet and exercise regime in check.

My advice – don’t! The more calories you pile on between now and the end of the year, the harder your job will be come January 1st. And starting a total diet and exercise overhaul overnight is a recipe for disaster.

So for those of you looking to count calories over the coming weeks I’ve put together my Top 10 list of The Biggest Diet Dangers heading your way. Here we go:

It’s Sunday everyone and you know what that means – it’s time for another Angry Trainer Top 10!

This time around we’re talking about poor exercise form and the common mistakes that almost everyone makes when working out. Over the years I’ve seen the same exercises repeatedly performed incorrectly by a great many people. This is largely due to misunderstanding what the exercise is trying to accomplish which prevents people from feeling the movement properly. And since a lot of us “learn” new exercises from friends in the gym, the quality of what you learn is only as good as the person teaching you.

So here’s my list of the 10 Exercises You’re Probably Doing Wrong… how many apply to you?

Hi everyone – it’s Top 10 time again! And in honor of today being Halloween we’re counting down the Top 10 Healthiest Candies on the market…

I’ve always looked at Halloween as the “jumping off” point for most people’s downward spiral of bad eating habits throughout the holidays. It can be so hard to try and resist the temptations of all those candy treats. Lets face it, Halloween isn’t about costumes for kids, it’s about getting as much candy possible! In my youth, my friends and I used to fill up multiple pillowcases with sweet stuff and would compete to see who got The most. Nowadays, my struggle is not eating all of my kids candy and when I do, trying to pick the treats that aren’t terrible for my diet and health. You see – even The Angry Trainer gets tempted… and giving up candy 100% is neither plausible – nor much fun. You just need to be a little smarter over what you eat – and stick to the serving sizes…

So here are the Top 10 candies I look for and why. I’m not saying any of these are HEALTHY – all contain sugar and empty calories – but just that there’s a LOT worse products out there on the market…

The fact is dieting is a billion dollar industry that grows every year – right along with America’s waistlines. Something is wrong with that, wouldn’t you say?

It’s Top 10 time again… and we have a doozy for you this time around!

EXERCISE EXCUSES. We’ve all heard them – and we’ve all used them.

In my long personal training career I’ve heard anything and everything used as reasons for neglecting one’s health and fitness. It’s always easier to put off starting a new workout regime – especially when the word “work” is involved. More times than not, it’s misinformation or lack of understanding that rears its ugly head and leads people to believe they can’t or shouldn’t exercise.

So what follows are the top 10 excuses I’ve heard over and over throughout the years, and my responses…. Cause you know The Angry Trainer doesn’t accept excuses!
