Hey everyone, times flies huh? Here we are at day 21 of the Angry Trainer October Diet Challenge.

For those of you that haven’t joined in yet, it’s not too late! You can still get a good 9 days of healthier eating habits under your belt. The plan is super simple – make a significant change in your diet and commit to exercise 4 days per week, for just 30 minutes. Easy, eh?

So how is it going for all of you? I know many of you have been updating me via the Angry Trainer Fitness Facebook Page and it seems like you’re all cheering each other on! That’s awesome! I love the sense of community that’s being shown by all of you. For me though, I must be honest, it’s been a tricky time. Truthfully, my biceps injury and subsequent surgery really threw me for a loop. Before the 1st October I ate horribly for weeks on end, feeding my misery AND my belly and though I’ve cleaned up my diet this month I haven’t been perfect!

I know some of you have experienced the same feeling. When you’re used to being able to perform at a certain level, and look a certain way, when you can’t, it really challenges your self-esteem and confidence. It really knocked me down and affected virtually every aspect of my life. I had tried (with my arm in a sling) the elliptical, bike, anything really, and just that gentle rocking motion aggravated my arm – how depressing. I found myself not being able to take my own advice. It seems the Angry Trainer is human after all.

But within the last 10 days, my arm had made remarkable progress, and I want to thank all of you that have been asking how I’m doing. It’s amazing really, once I was given clearance by my doc to resume light exercise it was like a switch was flipped. In all seriousness, I haven’t eaten this clean in years. My determination, focus, and will power is at an all time high. And I have to thank all of you for sharing how you’re doing, because it helps me – I guess we’re helping each other.

I’ve been eating lean meats, carrots, squash, green beans, asparagus, cucumbers, broccoli and lots of salad. My favorite topping is fresh crushed tomatoes with some spices and olive oil. And as I always recommend, much of my protein is from cans – no salt salmon, chicken, tuna, and eggs. I’ve been training legs with squats, lunges, and even started very cautiously with upper body. I can do some presses, laterals, rows, and even curls – albeit with a tiny itsy bitsy 2 pounder! But nonetheless, it progress, and that’s great.

Since I’m like so honest and want to share, I’ll tell you this too – I’m a little chubby! No I’m not fat, I know that. But I’m use to have abs, as in plural, and now I have an ab. There’s definitely a bit of extra fat around my belly and sides that weren’t there 2 months ago, and I can’t stand it. It was at my own hand that it accrued, and it’ll be at my own once again when I get rid of it. With my body, I gain fat nowhere else but my belly. It’s first to show up, and last to leave, like an annoying friend at a get together!

Anyway, I promise to always be truthful here on the site and I’m telling you all now, I’ll be back to my former self in no time. I know many of you have said you’ve seen terrific results on this journey, have lost weight, and become more conscious of what and how you eat. To me, that’s success in itself. As you all know, the person who participates the most and interacts with updates is getting a phone consultations from yours truly. So far, Ingrid, Laura and Sara are leading the pack. Where are all my guys at? It’s not too late!

Be well and stay ANGRY!
