Alfonso, My boyfriend, who I live with and is in pretty good shape, doesn’t really eat as well as I am trying to. This isn’t necessarily a problem, except that he’s always tempting me with offering to pick me up some fast food, bring home some ice cream, or something else that is totally…

Isn’t it super frustrating to lose weight and feel like you’ve achieved success, only to gain it all back – and more – in what seems like the blink of an eye? You know the drill, you’ve been down this road – you go up and down in weight, each time gaining back more and…

Alfonso, I’m 44 and have been working out at home for about two years. I’m an Ectomorph (long and thin), 6ft, 170 lbs., and about 15% body fat. I have 3 protein shakes with fruit and two meals that are lean white meat with veggies per day. I want to add muscle mass and lose…

Hi Alfonso, I have a question concerning increasing my running speed. I know you’re not a big runner and frankly, neither am I. I’m in the United States Army and am required to run at least two miles for testing purposes. I need to get better at running, however, I don’t want to lose my…

Time for a little controversy here at Angry Trainer Fitness I think! John in Colorado contacted me to ask for some advice on his training routine. He’s been training like a traditional bodybuilder for years now – sticking to the tried and tested body part splits. You know the drill – chest and triceps, back…

The subject of today’s podcast is all too common – how to find a trainer that listens to your needs. Katie wrote to me after struggling to find a fitness professional that puts together a program that she likes – an all too common complaint I’ve heard many times before… Truthfully some of the blame…

Hey everyone – it’s Ask Alfonso time again – and since I’m typing with one hand at the moment, I decided to do today’s answer as a Podcast! Lynne has lost over 100 pounds and is getting a lot of different opinions on whether or not her excess skin will return back to its previously…

Today’s Ask Alfonso podcast should resonate with a lot of you out there. Frances works a desk job and can’t afford a gym membership. She walks 20 – 30 minutes per day, but can’t seem to lose the last 10 pounds. So she wants to know what she should do – and eat –…

I completely agree about the protein bit, but you should elaborate on the TYPE of sugar. Also, I believe that concentrates are better than isolates when it comes to protein. The less processed, the better your body will absorb it. NOW, what about VEGAN sources of protein? All of them seem to be either high in carb or fat!. I cannot do soy, nor would I want to, for very specific reasons. What can you suggest? LOVE you site and advicexo

I’m wondering if you think a shake is always necessary. I’m not trying to gain muscle particularly quickly. So why reload with sugar and protein right after a workout?
